The Scottish Government is seeking to further regulate non-surgical cosmetic procedures (NSCPs). They are seeking a model of regulation which protects the public while being proportionate and providing a framework where potential clients can undergo procedures with confidence, and responsible, safe providers can continue offering them.
There are two sets of proposals:
- Those related to settings and premises
- Those related to the actual non surgical aesthetic procedures
These proposals have been developed in conjunction with a variety of stakeholders and experts including our own CEO Lesley Blair MBE who sits on the Cosmetics Informed and Empowered Public Sub-Group, part of the Scottish Government's Interventions Expert Group.
They also asked for wider public feedback. Along with our own submission we invited our Scottish Members to submit their own feedback before the deadline. (14th February 2025)
Once all feedback has been assessed the Scottish Government will undertake targeted engagement to inform final proposals that will be put into any legislation. We will continue to provide insights and recommendations to ensure the scheme is valid, robust and enforceable, while allowing provision for ongoing evaluation and will keep our members posted.
