It was confirmed by government yesterday that the whole of Nottinghamshire will move into Tier 3 from midnight tonight.
While the announcement had been expected, the additional restrictions included by local government, over and above those laid out by national government, came with no forewarning. Click here for a full breakdown of the government and local restrictions. BABTAC spent the day trying to gain further clarification on the decision to close all beauty, while once again allowing hairdressers and barbers to remain open. We joined forces with a number of other industry bodies to send an open letter to the Nottinghamshire County Council. Please read a copy of that letter here. We urgently await a response back.
As things stand however the following will apply to businesses in Nottinghamshire after midnight tonight:
- Beauty Salons, Nail Bars, Tanning Services, Tattoo Parlours and Spas must close.
- Hairdressers and Barbershops may stay open (with restrictions)

Businesses that fall into other Tier 3 areas of England and have currently been allowed to stay open can continue to do so. As always though it is very important to keep checking in with your local council to ensure they haven't applied any additional measures that could affect you.
