As promised by Chancellor Rishi Sunak - the government pay scheme to keep staff on the payroll despite not working due to Coronavirus has gone live today.
The Treasury has advised that the system can process up to 450,000 applications an hour and that employers should receive the money within six working days of making an application. Thus employers wishing to claim before the end of the month should do so over the next couple of days in order for the payment to go in by 30th April.
On Friday, Mr Sunak also announced that the wage subsidy scheme would be extended by a further month, until the end of June.
The announcement was made after the government confirmed that lockdown restrictions in the UK would continue for "at least" another three weeks
