What BABTAC have been doing through the pandemic
- Provided ALL members a discount on insurance over a full year’s business
- Published over 120 member urgent updates, over 60 news features & blogs and 250 social posts in last year
- Contributed to nearly 400 PR pieces highlighting the plight of our industry
- Our Chair, Lesley Blair, has personally taken part in over 50 radio and TV interviews raising further awareness
- Ongoing Contributor to advisory boards and COVID taskforces of government
- Ran and published results of numerous Industry and member surveys to further highlight the status of our industry to the media and government
- Written and contributed to numerous open letters to numerous government departments (England and devolved nations) requesting urgent assistance for our sector
- Provided template letters for members to correspond directly with their own councils
- Formed alliances and worked inclusively and collaboratively with a number of other top industry bodies
- On the back of all the contributions, correspondence and collaborations our Coalition (BABTAC, British Beauty Council, NHBF and the UK Spa Association) have also now secured a newly-formed, sector-specific team within government dedicated to supporting Personal Care.
- Our Chair also continues to have weekly updates with her own personal government contacts in all the devolved nations
- Launched the Beauty Backed Campaign with the BBC and Caroline Hirons which has raised half a million pounds for the Hair & Beauty Charity
- Launched the BABTAC Beauty Broadcasts to provide members with helpful resources and CPD sessions through lockdown periods
- Published a Member Back to Work Guidelines & Toolkit
- Provided a COVID Support Portal with relevant resources, updates, guidance & recovery support
- Raised awareness of how members themselves can offer assistance of their own where possible
- Launched Make Beauty Safe Campaign to shine a light on our professional and verified therapists and businesses
- Launched our ‘Inspiring Beauty Awards’ to honour and celebrate our amazing members and their inspiring stories through the pandemic
- Lesley Blair was appointed by Caroline Hirons to be a Trustee of the newly launched Beauty Backed Trust, set up to assist all those business most critically in need of help
- Our Coalition sent out 356 letters to Local Authorities asking for Additional Restrictions Grant funding to be allocated to Personal Care businesses in their communities.
