Bowen technique

Bowen is a holistic therapy applied gently to a client in a relaxed, often laying position. The treatment can be given over thin clothes and aims to progressively encourage the body to heal itself.
Bowen practitioners use ’tissue tension sense’ to identify and release stress build-ups in muscle groups, this stimulates the body’s energy flow, which induces relaxation and allows the body to start self-healing.

The Bowen technique can be used on many complaints but is extremely effective on musculo-skeletal problems. Bowen movements are delicate, gentle and precise, they gently roll the connective tissue and require frequent pauses so the body can react to the treatment in its own time and benefit from each set of movements before moving on.

Oswald and Elaine Rentsch were commissioned by Thomas A. Bowen (1903 – 1982) to teach this treatment and certified practitioners can now be found in: Australia, North America, New Zealand, UK and Europe.
